From the series Littoral Vision – Vignettes of an Ephemeral Landscape, examining scenes in the area between low and high tides, technically known as the "littoral zone". The forms we see and the processes that produce them have been endlessly repeating across our planet for millions of years, a never-ending cycle of destruction and creation. A delicate ballet of natural forces that may appear chaotic but are in actuality as predictable as they are captivating.

Jim is a professional geologist who has been pursuing fine-art photography for more than 30 years. He seeks out subjects that can be appreciated both literally via a lens of understanding from his training as a scientist, as well as figuratively, through the lens of his camera, exploring the patterns, tonalities, visual rhythms, and the play of light across a scene.

My Lakota friends would say the Milky Way, known as Wanaghi Tachanku, is a spiritual pathway that connects the living world with the spirit world. The image shows the late-night embers of the sacred fire reflecting off Lone Star Sun Dance tipis under the Wanaghi Tanchanku. The Sun Dance, the highest of the seven sacred ceremonies of the Lakota people, is an annual multi-day ritual of spiritual renewal and sacrifice. People from the community—the Sun Dancers—take on pain and discomfort so that the people may live.

Steve Goff is a photo educator and fine art photographer living in West Texas. This image is part of a series of exhibitions organized by the Amon Carter Museum of American Art as part of the Art Bridges Cohort Program. Steve has dedicated nearly 50 years to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring photographers. His creative work features still life, portraiture, and landscapes with a variety of media and techniques. Steve has been a long-time member and executive board member of TPS, and he serves on the Board of Odessa Arts.

Encounter, part of my series At Risk, was taken in Ndutu, Tanzania, during a safari in 2013. Night was fast approaching as we headed toward camp. The vehicle rounded a corner—and there stood the bull elephant. We startled each other, face-to-face in the fading light.

Marilyn Maxwell is a fine art photographer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A trip to Africa in the late 1990s sparked her passion for photography. Through her art, she celebrates the power and beauty of African wildlife—and calls attention to the urgent need for conservation. She hopes her photographs stir emotion in the viewer—enough to make them pause, reflect, and feel inspired to help protect these creatures.

The artist’s share of sale proceeds will be donated to Wildlife Conservation Action, which supports human–wildlife conflict mitigation projects in Zimbabwe.

In this image, I was exploring ideas of nature, the wonder of nighttime and splendor of a harvest moon. Since ancient times, humans have marveled at the harvest moon. Through staged landscape, I created this work, gilded the original print, and rephotographed it.
