The exhibition will open at The Arts Gallery at Collin College in Plano, Texas on January 22, 2019 with a public reception on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4-7pm. The exhibition will be on view through February 13.

This call for entry is now closed. By popular demand, we are bringing back the Alternative Processes Competition, which will be juried by Christopher James, artist, author, University Professor and Director of the MFA in Photography and Integrated Media program at Lesley University - College of Art and Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This call seeks imagery derived from alternative photographic processes and historical printing methods including but not limited to: Albumen, Anthotype, Argyrotype, Athenatype, Bayard Direct Positive, Calotype, Carbon, Casein, Chrysotype, Cyanotype, Dusting-On Process, Gum Bichromate, Gumoil, Herschel’s Breath Printing, Inkjet Photopolymer Gravure, Ivorytype, Kallitype, Mordancage, Platinum/Palladium, POP, Solarplate Intaglio, Van Dyke Brown, Wet Plate Collodion, Whey Process, Ziatype and all photographic image-making techniques that incorporate traditional mediums such as printmaking, ceramics or painting. Conventional, unmodified digital inkjet prints are not acceptable for entry. This exhibition is open-themed, and submissions from artists of all levels are encouraged.

Entry Fee
Entry fee is $30 for 5 images, plus $6 for each additional image. Photographers may enter up to 10 images. Please don't forget to include your membership fee, if also joining TPS at the time of entry.

Eligibility
The Alternative Processes & Integrated Media Competition is open to artists of all levels internationally. You do not need to be a member of the Texas Photographic Society to enter this competition. However, you may join TPS and enter this show at the same time (read more about TPS member benefits). Works exhibited previously in a TPS show are not eligible, and all entries must be submitted digitally. Current members of the TPS Board of Directors are permitted to enter but are not eligible for awards.

About the Juror
Christopher James, artist, author, University Professor and Director of the MFA in Photography and Integrated Media program at Lesley University - College of Art and Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Christopher James is an internationally known artist and photographer whose photographs, paintings, and alternative process printmaking have been exhibited in galleries and museums in this country and abroad. His work has been published and shown extensively, including exhibitions in the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, George Eastman House, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Institute of Contemporary Art-Boston. Represented by the Lee Witkin Gallery in New York City for over two decades he has also shown at Pace-McGill (NYC), Contrasts Gallery (London), Michelle Chomette (Paris), Hartje Gallery (Berlin) and Photokina (Germany). He has published extensively including Aperture, Camera (Switzerland), American Photographer, Solstice (for fiction) and Interview magazine, and in books such as The Antiquarian Avant Garde, á Prova de Aguà: Waterproof, Human Documents and Handcrafted: The Art and Practice of the Handmade Print (China).

All three editions of his book, The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes, have received international critical acclaim and are universally recognized by artists, curators, historians and educators as the definitive text in the genre of alternative process photography and photographically integrated media. Christopher, after 13 years at Harvard University, is presently University Professor and Director of the MFA in Photography program at Lesley University College of Art and Design. He received his undergraduate degree from Massachusetts College of Art and his masters from Rhode Island School of Design. He is also a painter, graphic designer, author and a professional scuba diver. Christopher runs custom alternative process workshops out of his studio during the summer. Prepare Your Files
1. Files should be 1200 pixels in the longest dimension and saved in JPEG format on the highest quality setting. Images should also be saved in RGB color space.

2. Label each file as FirstName_Lastname_ followed by consecutive numbers. For example: Sam_Jones_1.jpg, Sam_Jones_2.jpg, etc. Please don't forget to include the "jpg" extension.

3. Do NOT use spaces in the file name, and do NOT use special characters such as :;’”/?}{()[ ]+=*&^%$#@! (use only alpha-numeric characters).

4. Please prepare the following information for each image: (1) print title; (2) process [Cyanotype, Gum Bichromate, Platinum/Palladium, etc.]; and (3) price or NFS.

Sales
TPS encourages the sales of exhibited work. In support of the artists, TPS will not collect commission from print sales. Please print your name, address, telephone number(s) and price on the back of each accepted piece. If your work is Not-For-Sale, simply note NFS but provide a dollar value for record-keeping purposes. If you do not indicate a sales price, the artwork will be listed as NFS.

Liability
TPS and the venue will exercise all due care when handling your work, but will not be held responsible for loss, damage or replacement.

Reproduction
TPS and the venue retain the right to display, project and reproduce work accepted for this exhibition for publicity and promotional purposes only. Individual photographers retain copyright to his/her own individual images. Also, an exhibition catalog will be created to showcase the juror's selections.

If Your Work is Accepted
1. Artwork must be ready-to-hang and must not exceed 40" in the longest dimension. Please make sure that wire or D-rings are attached firmly to the back of the piece (NO sawtooth hangers permitted). If applicable, please use white mats and frames that are gallery quality and complement your work (color mats are not acceptable). NO glass please; Plexiglass only (unless work is hand-delivered). Clearly label the back of your work with your full name, medium and contact information. TPS reserves the right to exclude works from the exhibition that are not gallery-ready and professional in presentation.

2. A pre-paid return shipping label MUST be provided with your work (FedEx or UPS preferred) for prints to be returned to you when the exhibition concludes. Work WITHOUT return shipping will NOT be included in the exhibition and will NOT be returned. Prints will be return shipped in the container in which they were received. No packing “peanuts”, and please be considerate of our limited storage space when choosing the size of your packaging.

3. Work must arrive in Plano, Texas, no later than January 15, 2019.
