Our first-ever Drone & Aerial Photography competition boasted the juror's "top 25" selections by 18 artists from across the globe in an online gallery, which debuted on TPS' website November 1, 2017, and remained on display through December 31, 2017. The award winners were also announced on the DJI Aerial Photo Academy site and the Official DJI Owners Group Facebook page. The exhibition was on display at Brazos Gallery at Richland College in Dallas, Texas, from October 20 through November 11, 2016, with an opening reception on October 21, attended by Juror Dan Burkholder. TPS 25: The International Competition

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of this annual call for entry, the juror selected the work of 25 photographers for exhibition. This call was open-themed, and submissions from artists of all levels were encouraged.

TPS 25: The International Competition highlighted 60 works by 25 artists to commemorate the 25th anniversary of this show. The exhibition opened with a reception June 3, 2016, at Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine, Texas, and was accompanied by supplementary programming during Alpine Photo Weekend. TPS 25 traveled next to Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, which opened with a reception on October 6, 2016. The show remained on display until November 13, 2016, before traveling to The Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene, Texas, from November 23, 2016, through January 21, 2017. TPS 25 concluded its traveling circuit at Options Gallery, Odessa College in Odessa, TX, from February 27 through March 31, 2017.

The Alternative Processes Competition

Juried by Christopher James, Director of the MFA Photography Program at Lesley University College of Art and Design, Cambridge, Massachusetts

This was the third competition of its kind, which sought imagery derived from alternative photographic processes and historical printing methods including but not limited to: Albumen, Anthotype, Argyrotype, Athenatype, Bayard Direct Positive, Calotype, Carbon, Casein, Chrysotype, Cyanotype, Dusting-On Process, Gum Bichromate, Gumoil, Herschel’s Breath Printing, Inkjet Photopolymer Gravure, Ivorytype, Kallitype, Mordancage, Platinum/Palladium, POP, Solarplate Intaglio, Van Dyke Brown, Wet Plate Collodion, Whey Process, Ziatype and all photographic image making techniques that incorporate the integration of traditional mediums such as printmaking, ceramics and painting.

In collaboration with LOOK: Liverpool International Photography Festival, TPS traveled a small selection of work from this exhibition to England. Emma Smith, Executive Director of LOOK/15, curated 12 works from 11 artists, which appeared at the venue WarpLiverpool in Liverpool, England, during this international festival in May 2015.
