In the early 1980s, the Austin Photo Co-op was formed by a group of photographers for film purchasing purposes. They reorganize in 1984 incorporating under the name “Texas Photographic Society.” Within two years, TPS membership had grown to over 100, and the Society attained ‘not-for-profit’ status. Today, TPS has over 1,200 members in 48 states in 15 countries.
In 2010, we will have new opportunities like online exhibitions, more workshops, lectures, and more. Please check the website throughout the year of 2010 for updates, opportunities, and much more.

Kenda North of University of Texas in Arlington will select six solo
exhibitions that will be online in October, November or December in two categories, Emerging Artist and Mid-Career Artist.

Deadline: October 13
The Texas Photographic Society is hosting an online exhibit with Fraction Magazine. Juror and Fraction Magazine Editor and Cofounder, David Bram, will select images that he would like to represent in an issue of Fraction Magazine. First, Second, Third Place and Honorable Mentions will be featured in the January 2011 issue. The Best Shot will also be exhibited on our Members' Online Gallery for a month and archived for a year.

Juried by Scott Bourne of Bourne Media. All Award winners will receive a complimentary printed exhibition catalogue. In addition, photographers whose works are designed as First, Second and Third place winners may choose a photographic print from a selection of the TPS Print Program, excluding the Featured Artists. A book is being published on blurb.com.

Juried by Jean Caslin of Casling, Gregory & Associates in Houston, TX. The Texas Photographic Society has presented its quarterly Photographic Portfolio Competition. Each month, TPS will feature two portfolios, one by an emerging photographer and one by a mid-career photographer. This competition is open to TPS members only.
